Negotiations
between General Motors and Mid Michigan Global Link to purchase
the Buick City property are underway. Guggenheim Franklin
Park, a significant investor in the new project, has committed
$25 million to the effort pending due diligence. The use
of financial, tax, and other incentives will enhance development
potential. Early success of this project is due, in large
part, to the involvement of government institutions, private
sector partners and the substantial experience of the Genesee
Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Buick City site is minutes
from the airfreight hub being built at Bishop International
Airport. When first phase construction is completed it is
estimated that 600 new jobs will be created.
