Felix Owens, Democrat
Candidate for: Genesee County Board of Commissioners - 1st District
Response:*
It is my belief that one of, if not the most important decision commissioners have to make involves how to balance the county's budget and keep Genesee County solvent. Considering the difficult times we are presently facing and the likelihood that things may become more increasingly difficult, it is my belief that the person that fills this seat needs to be budget balancing conscious immediately. Having served on the Mt. Morris Township board for the past four years, as a Trustee. I have been able to be involved with the process of establishing a yearly budget and sticking to that budget. I am proud to say that Mt. Morris Township operates it's budget from the black and not the red and has done so since I have been on the board. Additionally, I'm sure that each of you realize that this could not be accomplished by me attempting to work independent of my colleagues. I am very proud to be able to say, that I along with my colleagues were able to put aside our differences for the greater good. I believe that my ability to work well with others, will be of service to this community. It is my contention that the most effective to way to create a positive future for are children, is by forming relationships between government, businesses and community. This would allow for many more minds working toward the same goals and setting those goals together.
