Joseph Graves, Republican
Candidate for: Genesee County Board of Commissioners - 6th District
Response:*
I am the Republican Candidate for County Commission here in the 6th District. I believe that Genesee County is a reflection of the entire State of Michigan; they both lack vision, direction and leadership. I spent 32 years in Engineering Management at General Motors and own a small home improvement business. I understand the difficulties Genesee County residents and businesses now face and I will offer real solutions and I have a proven track record.
As Clerk in Argentine Township I NEVER voted for a tax increase or accepted a pay raise. I was a Non-Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army and I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA with a concentration in leadership. I know how to balance a budget without burdening tax payers with unwarranted increases and I can offer leadership this county so desperately needs.
The current County Board of Commissioners has failed the residents in so many ways and to say we can do better is an understatement. I am confident that if we work together, we can return Genesee County to the viable economic climate it once was instead of the current unemployment rate of 11.5% while the national average is 5%. In addition this County Board voted to approve a dangerous EMS ordinance, put Woodrow Stanley in charge of our County’s budget and agenda. They hijacked the senior millage by reallocating some of the money for causes other than where the money was originally intended.
