Mike Curtis
Candidate for: Genesee County Register of Deeds
Response:*
I am running to serve one term, and one term only, to consolidate the Genesee County Register of Deeds with the County Clerk’s office. "One and Done – Change you can Count On” is my commitment to the people of Genesee County.
The economy is the number one issue affecting our residents, "people are worrying about what gas is costing them to get to work, the high price of groceries, continual property and sales tax increases while their income has declined or become stagnant.” Furthermore, I am very much aware that people have had to reorganize their lifestyles and tighten their belts and I feel that the time has come for our county elected officials to tackle consolidating the Register of Deeds with the County Clerk, while the budget deficit looms at $10 million, with a projected deficit of $34 million by 2011.
Running to serve one term only, to downsize and streamline county government by coordinating a working partnership with the clerk, Michael Carr will save taxpayers in excess of $100,000 annually.
I am a life-long resident of Genesee County and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Michigan-Flint. I am retired from Genesee County as an adult probation officer and currently substitute teaching in several area public schools.
